A car accident has claimed the life of a pedestrian in New York. The car accident reportedly occurred in Queens. New York authorities were called to the scene to conduct an investigation, and a preliminary report suggests that the driver was under the influence.
The incident reportedly happened on a recent early Saturday morning. According to reports, a pedestrian was attempting to make his way across the street when the driver of a Ford sedan hit him. The driver then crashed into a parked vehicle. Medics arrived at the crash scene and transported a female passenger to the hospital with unknown injuries, but she is reportedly in stable condition.
The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. A witness stated that he heard the crash and then noticed the man’s dead body. The driver of the Ford was charged with criminally negligent homicide and aggravated non-licensed driver. He was also charged with driving under the influence while having a prior conviction within the last 10 years and vehicular homicide.
The driver could face years in prison for his criminal charges and may have to face civil liability as well.
