A woman was killed in a recent accident that happened in Brooklyn. She was a passenger in an apparent drunk driving accident that, according to the police, had more than one intoxicated driver. New York authorities have charged two motorists in this matter.

The accident happened on a recent Sunday morning, and according to reports, a 32-year-old woman was a rear seat occupant in a Nissan sedan that was traveling in the eastbound direction. The driver apparently tried to turn left at an intersection, but her vehicle collided with a Chevy Camaro. The impact ripped apart the back of the Nissan, and the off the roadway and into some parked cars. Authorities do not know if the woman was ejected from the vehicle or if she suffered head trauma within the vehicle.

Rescue crews transported the woman to the hospital, but she passed away before they could get her there. Another woman, a front seat passenger in the Nissan survived and only suffered minor injuries. Both of the drivers were placed under arrest and charged with operating under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.

This is a tragic case in which the death of a woman was apparently caused by the negligence of others in a drunk driving accident. The family of the deceased woman is surely mourning the loss of their loved one. The surviving family retains the right to file a wrongful death claim against both drivers in order to try to recoup damages, such as funeral and burial costs and other financial losses recognized by New York laws. A civil court may award the family financial relief if they are able to substantiate their claims by appropriate evidence.
