Our roadways are known for having a large amount of traffic, particularly in highly populated areas. For this reason, many people walk or take public transportation to get to their destination. However, being a pedestrian can be dangerous if someone is hit by a vehicle. A New York teenager suffered serious car accident injuries after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
The Hempstead Turnpike is known to the community as a dangerous place for pedestrians. The accident reportedly happened when a teenage girl was walking home from school. She was in the midst of walking across the street when she was struck by a motorist. The impact sent the teen flying in the air and the driver left the scene. After the initial impact, she was struck by two more vehicles.
The teen was taken to the hospital with broken bones and other serious injuries. Law enforcement officers still have not been able to track down the vehicle that hit the teenage girl. Authorities are still investigating this accident and asking anyone with information to contact their office.
Being struck by a vehicle can result in car accident injuries for New York pedestrians. The teenage girl who was injured undoubtedly suffered from a substantial amount of physical pain and forced to miss time from school. If the driver is ever located, the teenager, along with her family, may have the right to file a personal injury claim against him or her. With well-documented evidence, the teenager may be awarded the financial relief she needs and deserves from a civil courtroom.
