Deadly accidents in New York are an unfortunately common event. With the rising amount of car accidents that occur on the roads, motorists are at greater risks every day. Among these fatal accidents, many are caused by unlicensed or teen drivers. In one such tragic event, seven people were injured and two have lost their lives.

Authorities were called out to the scene of an accident that occurred at around 1:42 a.m. Upon a preliminary investigation, police believe that a 15-year-old female that was operating a Ford cut across the median for an unknown reason. The Ford slammed into a Dodge minivan which was carrying seven people. An occupant in the Ford sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Six occupants in the Dodge also sustained unknown injuries and were treated at a local hospital. Unfortunately, the driver of the Dodge was unable to survive and was declared dead at the hospital. The teenage driver of the Ford was declared dead at the scene.

Depending on the outcome of this continuing investigation, the estate of the driver of the Ford could face penalties in a civil lawsuit. When deaths occur as a result of car accidents, the surviving family members are left to grieve the loss of their loved one. The family of the Dodge’s driver may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim in New York against the other driver’s estate on behalf of the deceased victim. Monetary compensation may be awarded if evidence proves that the deceased driver was the responsible party that caused or contributed to the fatal accident.
