A car crash is a common occurrence. When an auto accident happens, it’s the responsibility of those involved to remain at the scene. Unfortunately, some New York motorists do not adhere to that rule and often try to escape the responsibility.
An accident occurred along the highway on Thursday evening. Upon an initial investigation, authorities determined that the incident happened when a tow truck driver was at the scene of a disabled vehicle. Reportedly, in the midst of him making his way to the vehicle, a truck crashed into him. The driver of the truck never stopped after hitting the man and fled the scene. Medical personnel transported the victim to a nearby medical facility for treatment of his injuries.
The driver has not been apprehended by officers as of yet. Authorities described the vehicle as a Toyota Tundra that may have a broken tail light and other damages to the back of the vehicle. Officials are still on the hunt for the motorist responsible for this crash.
An auto accident can bring about physical and mental anguish. This is especially true when victims feel that there is no legal recourse for their suffering. If the driver is located, he or she not only faces a hit-and-run charge but also possible civil litigation. The tow truck operator may have the right to file a personal injury claim against the hit-and-run driver to recover damages for medical costs, lost wages and other financial burdens related to this accident. A New York courtroom may find in favor of the tow truck operator if evidence deems the other party liable for the accident and his injuries.
