A 62-year-old woman was killed in a recent three-vehicle crash when the vehicle she was riding in was rear-ended. The auto accident happened on the New York Thruway in Seneca County after traffic came to a standstill. A driver involved in the crash was ticketed with multiple citations.

A three-vehicle accident occurred on the Thruway on a recent Thursday morning. A 29-year-old male driver was traveling in the westbound direction on the roadway when traffic began to slow down. He reportedly slammed into the vehicle that was in front of him. Afterward, the vehicle that he rear-ended crashed into the back of another vehicle.

A woman, who was in the vehicle that was initially hit was deceased at the scene. The driver of the first vehicle was transported to a Syracuse hospital where he’s listed in good condition. Fortunately, the occupants in the third vehicle were not injured. The driver who is said to have rear-ended the first vehicle was cited for following too closely and driving at an unsafe speed.

In addition to the tickets the first driver faces, he may have to answer to civil proceedings that may be ahead of him. The family of the deceased passenger may decide to file a wrongful death claim against the motorist with respect to his driving behavior in fatal auto accident. If the gathered evidence demonstrates the driver’s apparently negligent behavior was a causal factor to the tragic death that occurred, a civil court in New York may award damages as deemed appropriate to the surviving family.
