A woman died following an accident that occurred while she and her boyfriend were walking home recently. The auto accident ensued when a truck plummeted onto the New York sidewalk where the woman was walking. However, the driver of the truck may not be the one responsible for the crash. Other people involved in the accident were also injured.
The woman and her long-time boyfriend were walking along the sidewalk on the way to his residence. While in transit, the woman was hit by the truck that had veered off the road and onto the sidewalk. After the impact, she ended up trapped between the vehicle and a fence. In spite of the seemingly reckless nature of the truck’s driver, the truck had actually been forced onto the sidewalk after a taxi collided into his vehicle. Allegedly, the taxi, which had been carrying two passengers, had run a red light.
The driver of the truck only sustained minor injuries. The driver of the taxi was injured and was knocked into an unconscious state. The occupants in the taxi, a mother and her 9-year-old daughter, were both injured and transported to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries. The woman who was struck died from her injuries.
Authorities have not yet issued any citations to the driver of the taxi in this unfortunate auto accident in New York. The woman leaves behind children and grandchildren who are likely grieving their loss. She also leaves behind her boyfriend who had the devastating experience of watching his long-time love die right before his eyes. The woman’s family has the option to file a wrongful death claim, which could provide them with much needed financial reimbursement while dealing with their loss. The other injured parties also have the right to file personal injury claims against the person responsible.
